Becoming a Nation of Readers
(1986) states that "parents play roles of inestimable importance
in laying the foundation for learning to read." This committee seeks
to provide parents with current research, practical ideas, and support
in beginning reading. As students transition from "learning to read
to reading to learn," it is important that a balanced reading program
be provided. Information is shared at curriculum night, along with services
available through classroom and support staff.
