Art DocentThe purpose of the Art Docent program is to make students familiar with great works of art and with famous artists, as well as give students a broad appreciation of art.Although skilled artists are welcome, no art background is necessary! Training is provided by observation of other Art Docents, hands on art workshops throughout the year, and an orientation by the Art Docent Chairperson. Hunt's Art Docent program has an excellent variety of Art Knowledge and "how to" books that allow volunteers to do as little or as much preparation as they choose to do. Hunt supplies all the materials needed to complete projects. Art Docents ideally teach one art class per month, October through May. Prep time varies with each project, but generally in class presentation time is 30 to 45 minutes. It would be ideal to have at least one volunteer per classroom. |
